Rooted in Site
Every Farmstead is different. Each site tells it's own story. For greenfield sites, the topography, landscape, prevailing winds, and road access all play pivotal roles in establishing a building strategy for the site. For existing sites, the structures already in place add a layer of history to the site. Established paths of movement and site usage help to influence the new design.
For our Ontario, Canada clients, Verkley Design and Modelling is able to further assist by studying the nutrient management assessments for the new facility. Using the AgriSuite planning software and AgGis making tools in conjunction with the Site Locating tool within Sketchup, we can accurately model out zoning restrictions for your site. This allows us to build up a site strategy that can look into the future to ensure that future growth won't be limited by setback requirements from neighbouring houses or commercial buildings.

Understanding Topography
Using Sketchup, we can bring in generalized topography maps to understand the underlying slopes of the site. This visual tool helps to inform how best to build to take advantage to hills and valleys, and to avoid extensive cuts or fills for building a new facility.
Understanding Regulations
Visually understanding your regulatory environment helps to both plan out your design strategy, but also helps to communicate your plans to the various parties involved. These maps can be used by your Nutrient Management specialist in preparing your Nutrient Strategy or Plan, and help facilitate conversations with conservation authorities, building inspectors, and even neighbours.
Understanding Expansion
Hindsight is 20-20. But with accurate 3D modelling and expansion planning, Foresight can at least get you close. Verkley Design and Modelling has the skillset, knowhow, and years of agricultural experience to help you develop a building strategy that will serve you well for generations to come. Coming to us right at the beginning allows us to make the absolute best use of your investment in new facilities so that they don't just serve today's needs, but also are prepared for the growth and challenges of tomorrow.
